THE STORY BEHIND EGLINTON:

Jim and Mary Eglinton Steel Fabrication started from humble beginnings during the early 1980’s, with the building of Porta Bins and Silos for their own use on the farm in a little tin shed. Before they knew, it had grown to a full time business with a number of employees and moved from the farm into a purpose-built facility in Swan Reach, South Australia.

After many requests from farmers for someone to design a decent size lid that would make the filling of paddock bins easier. Jim designed the Eglinton Pop-Top, a circular lid that opened out using an off centre push pole that is easily operated from the ground with a standard opening of 9’ 3” (2.8 metres). The lids are strong and stable and are able to be opened and shut easily in windy weather.

Jim set a high standard in the manufacturing of his products, with the silos and Porta bins being strong, durable and built to last. The key to Eglinton’s success is the products are designed and manufactured by a farmer for the farmer.

After Jim and Mary retired in 2007, the business was acquired by David and Joy Jolly and moved to Waikerie into a premises on the Sturt Highway and operated in conjunction with Joll Engineering, David and Joy’s original business. The business name Eglinton Silo’s was registered. 

In August 2014, Alan Hiller the managing director of Agritech Irrigation purchased the business from the Jollys, with the business name being changed to AGRITECH ENGINEERING (SA) PTY LTD. 

Eager to keep the brand name of Eglinton alive, “Eglinton Agri-Solutions” was created to reflect the products they manufacture, supply and the services they provide. Four years later, the silos manufactured here continue to please farmers with their excellence in quality.
